The design aesthetic for these limiteds aimed to bring out the best of the figured sapele, so the back and sides were treated with the same light stain used on the mahogany 500 Series, which serves to visually amplify the depth of figure. The appointment scheme also incorporates the sapele from the same tree, paired with ivoroid. The rosette features a sapele ring edged with ivoroid, ivoroid binding with sapele edge trim, and diamond “Solitaire” fretboard inlays that feature sapele outlined with ivoroid.

Not only is the rare quilted sapele used for this series visually different from the sapele used elsewhere in the Taylor line, its tonal response is also distinctive. These flatsawn sets have more flex, which translates into greater power and warmth on the low end. A premium European spruce top is the perfect complement, blending elements of Adirondack spruce’s robust output (thanks in part to Adirondack spruce bracing) with a hint of cedar’s warmth. The shifted bridge location of the short-scale 12-Fret GC yields extra sweetness and a slightly slinkier playing experience. Quilted sapele and ivoroid appointments, including a diamond “Solitaire” inlay scheme, add elegant sophistication to the guitar.
